This is one of Cambodia's most special nature adventures. This not-for-profit social enterprise was created by Mother Nature Cambodia's brave activists in 2013, offering ecological tours to stunning areas in Koh Kong province that are under threat due to uncontrolled and
destructive 'development'. We got started in the awesome, and now iconinc, Areng Valley, deep in the Cardamom jungles, threatened by an uneconomic hydroelectric dam. This stunning terrain, home to over 30 types of rare or critically endangered wildlife, would have been entirely flooded, and 2,000 or so members of the Chong Indigenous group would have been forcibly evicted from their homes. After a relentless advocacy campaign lead by Mother Nature Cambodia and many other civil society groups, the dam was put on hold by the Cambodian government in early 2015.
The Areng Valley not being, by any means, the only place in Cambodia in need of protecting, we have recently started to expand our ecological tours to include the magestic coastal estuaries, flooded forests and mangrove forests of southern Koh Kong, an area affected by large-scale mining of sand intended for export to Singapore.
Our tours offer guests the possibility to Kayak down the unique Areng River, home to the iconic and locally-revered Siamese crocodile, trek deep into the jungle-clad Cardamom National Park, explore one of South East Asia's largest mangrove forests, the Peam Krosaob Wildlife Sanctuary, cycle up and down the Areng Valley, and many other awesome & unique experiences.
